Dr. Chantelle Magel
Registered Clinical Psychologist, Psychology Associate
Like Dr. Jen, I completed all of my post-secondary studies at the University of Calgary. I obtained my BSc (Hons.) in psychology at the UofC in 2016 and went on to be admitted to their Clinical Psychology program, where I obtained my MSc in 2019 and my PhD in 2023. My graduate research focused on eating disorders, body image, and body perception. Throughout my training, I worked in a variety of clinical settings around Calgary doing assessment, intervention, and consultation with children, youth, and families with a variety of mental health concerns including mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, eating disorders, and behavioural concerns.
In 2023, I completed my pre-doctoral clinical residency within the Saskatoon and Area Psychology Residency Program, where I received extensive training working with children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual Developmental Disorder (IDD), and other developmental differences. During my time at the Alvin Buckwold Child Development Program in Saskatoon, I worked closely with developmental pediatricians, pediatric psychiatrists, and other clinical psychologists and was trained to administer the 'gold standard' assessment instrument for ASD (ages 2 and up), the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2), as well as comprehensive developmental interviews. This training served to bridge the gap with my previous experience in child and adolescent mental health and allows me to provide evidence-based service to children, adolescents, and young adults with complex concerns.
My training experiences have served to provide me with the skills necessary to provide assessments to individuals aged 2 years through young adulthood, in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning disabilities, and giftedness, as well as mental health diagnoses. I am pleased to offer comprehensive, evidence-based assessments that are tailored to each individual’s unique needs and serve to illuminate a path toward their full potential.
