Sabrina Peluso

Registered Provisional Psychologist, Psychology Associate

I obtained my BA (Specialized Hons.) in Psychology from York University (Toronto, Ontario) in
2012. I went on to complete my MA in Counselling Psychology at McGill University (Montreal,
Quebec) in 2015. My training has focused on providing therapy and comprehensive formal
assessments (career/vocational, cognitive and personality) for individuals of all ages and
diverse presenting concerns, with specific attention to culturally informed, integrative care that
honours the whole person and the context they come from.

Throughout my training, and in the years to follow, I worked in a variety of scholastic and
community settings in the Greater Montreal Area doing counselling, formal assessment, career
exploration and facilitating workshops with adolescents, young adults, families and groups. The
people I was privileged to work with came in with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety,
depression, ADHD, learning difficulties, self-worth, perfectionism, grief/loss, loneliness,
behavioural issues and trauma-related conditions. The bulk of my experience (at McGill
Counselling Services and the English Montreal School Board) has involved accompanying
adolescents and young adults through an evolving landscape of academic, vocational and
mental health hurdles. I love working with teens – their (sometimes brutal) honesty and
profound curiosity about who they are and where they fit in the world has been incredibly
rewarding to witness.

In 2022 I completed a certification in Integrative Nutrition at the Canadian School of Natural
Nutrition. Throughout my work I have witnessed how the mind and the body are connected - this
is why anxiety commonly comes with digestive issues, depression with fatigue, or ADHD with
energy crashes. To honor this connection and the wisdom of the body, I wanted to be able to
offer children, youth, adolescents and their families a unique approach that fuses psychotherapy
and formal assessment with nutritional analysis. Understanding the impact of nutrition status
(how food helps stabilize mood, restore focus, calm the nervous system and supercharge brain
power) can boost progress towards your goals. Nutrition is a vital part of treating the mind as
well as the body.

In therapy, the most important thing is that you feel safe, supported and respected. From a non-
judgemental place of empathy, curiosity, and respect, we will collaborate to explore the
challenges you have been facing, define your unique needs, and illuminate a path forward that
has a clear purpose.* Therapy will be entirely tailored to you and should compliment your way of
understanding your own experience, relating to others, and moving through life. I also offer
formal assessments for ADHD, intellectual disabilities and giftedness in children, youth and
adolescents with the goal of helping them (and their families) understand how their brains work,
provide customized tools to help them better navigate the world, and honour all parts of their
authentic selves as they develop and blossom into who they are meant to become.

*If you are curious, these are the modalities I tend to draw from the most: Narrative Therapy, Natural Processing, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR).
